My Florida U-Pick-It Farms List March 2011

It can be hard to find u-pick-it farms in Florida especially in the south near Lake Okeechobee. I prefer produce I've picked myself. So, I've made it a personal mission to seek out u-pick farms. Here is my list of farms I've visited in the past 12 months (organic-growing methods=min use of fertilizer, pesticide, fungicide, herbicide):

1.  The Girls, Delray Beach, approx. picking season Dec to May, hydroponic organic-growing-methods, strawberries and vegetables.
2.  Bedner's Farm, Boyton Beach, approx. picking season Dec to May, in-ground, organic-growing methods, strawberries and tomatoes.
3.  D and D Farms, Palm City, approx. picking season Oct to May, in-ground, organic-growing methods, vegetables.
4.  710 U-Pick Farm, Okeechobee, approx. picking season Nov to May, in ground, organic-growing methods, vegetables. (no website, contact owners at (772) 597-4510).
5.  Henscratch Farms and Vineyard, Lake Placid, approx. picking season Aug to Sept, in-ground, conventional growing, muscadine grapes (they advertise growing more items at other times of year).
6.  Rosa Fiorelli Winery and Vineyard, Bradenton, approx. picking season Sept to Nov, in-ground, organic-growing methods, muscadine grapes.
7.  Hunsader Farms, Bradenton, approx. picking season Sept to June, in-ground, organic-growing methods, strawberries, vegetables and pumpkins.
8.  Showcase of Citrus, Clermont, approx. picking season Oct to mid-May, in-ground, conventional, all types of citrus (just Northwest of Orlando).
