Delicious Edible Bugs, Hotlix® Inc.

Bugs are delicious to eat. They are full of protein and fats and are tasty alternatives to empty nutrient snack foods. If you’ve thought about tasting some then a good place to start is with some from California based Hotlix® Inc.

Edible bugs for dinner?

I bought some a few years ago at the South Florida Fair. This year I bought flavored Larvets in BBQ flavor and Crick-ettes in Salt N’ Vinegar flavor.

The larvets were crunchy with a mild BBQ popcorn flavor. I have not tried the crickets yet but from past experiences of eating chocolate covered crickets I’m sure these salt n’ vinegar ones will be just as good.

You can buy these bugs and others online at Hotlix® Inc.  or at many novelty events and stores around the country.

  1. Hi Helen,

Have you seen the full selection of edible insects at EntoMarket.com?

It took until 1800 for our population to hit 1 billion. A little over 200 years later we are above six billion. In the next 50 years we will reach 9 to 10 billion people on our planet.

Our agricultural systems will not support this growth and we need a sustainable solution. Edible insects is that solution.

Insects are as high in protein as meat with all of the essential amino acids. They have as much iron as spinach and as much vitamin D as milk. They are also a pre-biotic and are packed with Omega 3 and B vitamins.

They are also raised and harvested in less time, with less water requiring less land than other meat sources. They are organic, use not pesticides, herbicides or hormones.

Whether you eat insects or not, your children and grandchildren will. Be an early adopter and help bring this vital trend forward.

Edible Insects are good for you and good for the planet.
