Foodies gathered at Bedner's Farm to celebrate the Earth and Florida. It was Earth Day. The group--Gulp! Food and Libations organized the event with help from the Bedner's Produce Market family members. They invited 20 Florida companies to showcase their food, alcohol, and products.
There were several short 15 min demonstrations/speeches of various topics like goat milking by Jojo Milano of Goodness Gracious Acres Goat Farm/Delilah's Dairy (Loxahatchee). And "Where does your food come from," speech by Francesca from Francesca's Terra Verde Farm Club.
For just $55, I got to taste the flavors of Florida like delicious Mac & Cheese made with Winter Park Dairy Sunshine Blue cheese. And Porky and Beth's BBQ meat cooked with Oak from Arcadia (FL) and Pecan (GA) wood.
There was also a yummy Shepherd's pie made with Florida grass-fed beef from Florida Fresh Meat Company (Central Florida). And crackers spread with Quiet Creek goat cheese and Pascale’s gourmet jams made with local Florida ingredients.
To wash it down, there was some home brewed beer, from BX Beer Depot, mixed with local Florida grown lemongrass. There were also Titos handmade-vodka cocktails, and several out-of-state wines.
On the sweet side, there was a Flair For Fudge's specially Dark and Spicy fudge made with 70 percent cacao chocolate, cayenne pepper, and salt. It had a nice kick to it.
Everyone I talked to really enjoyed themselves. Some of the proceeds were donated to the Farmworker Council.
